Living With The Enemy

A full-length feature film that recounts the heroism and hardship of the Occupation years is planned for worldwide distribution through cinemas and on video.

Film production company Green Eye Productions proposes to tell the dramatic story of the Occupation years in Jersey. "Living with the Enemy" will be an exciting and personal adventure story set to the backdrop of the true life events that took place between 1940 and 1945. It will depict the fortitude of people under Occupation and will feature some of the stories of those who tried, sometimes successfully, to escape.

The film is inspired by the best selling book about the Occupation, both the same name - which gives a factual account of many of the incidents and experiences of people who lived through the Occupation (for a full description visit our books page). Since its publication, the book has become the first local book on the Occupation to be translated into another language, following its translation into German and launch at the 2003 Frankfurt Book Fair.

Now made into a highly acclaimed and best selling DVD and Video documentary, the production company Green Eye Productions, headed by Julie Daly-Wallman, has recruited the services of Deborah Le Brocq, an experienced Hollywood scriptwriter with a track record of USA successes.

Deborah intends to live in Jersey with the local farming community in order to carefully research the life and times in the Island in those tumultuous years.

About the Producer:
BAFTA film member Julie Daly-Wallman, a Jerseywoman, is the international producer behind the project. Julie has extensive feature film and television experience and has worked on such films as "Divine Rapture" (starring Marlon Brando) and "Disney's Incredible Studio". She has also worked with some of the most experienced film producers in the world including Roger Corman of Concorde Horizons Corp USA and Ovidio Assonitis (Piranha). Julie was also involved in the setting up of the first fully digital TV company in the world (Orbit Sapienza SPA).

Award winning
Julie produced the 2002 award winning 'The Crooked Mile', a movie that has since performed in 60 film festivals around the world and which won an award at Tribeca, the New York film festival set up by Robert de Niro. It was the first film made outside the USA to win this award. Now released on video and DVD, it has been sold to a number of countries around the world.

About the Scriptwriter:
Deborah Le Brocq is a Hollywood writer some of whose credits include "Honey I Blew Up the Kid" and "Buffalo 66", winner of the Sundance Film Festival. As scriptwriter, Deborah, from Los Angeles but herself with Channel Island family connections, will listen and record the first hand accounts of those who lived through the Occupation to ensure the authenticity of the film.
